Forgotten Realms. Anthologies
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast | 6х350 pages | 1994-2008 | PDF, DoC | 49.46 mb
This is a great anthology, provided that you not only know about the Forgotten Realms but are also a fan. I personally think that the story about the origins of Guenhwyvar (Drizzt Do'Urden's feline companion) make it worth reading, but there are other great stories that involve popular Realmsian characters like the wizards Elminster and Blackstaff. There are also stories about unknown characters that are very entertaining. Again, if you are not a fan of the Forgotten Realms you might not enjoy this much, but if you are a fan, get it, read it, and enjoy it!

Realms of Mystery (Forgotten Realms Anthology)
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast | ISBN: 0786911719 | 350 pages | 1998 | TXT, DoC
Since I'm not familiar with the Forgotten Realms fantasy line (this is the first book that I've read), I found several of the stories rather confusing and complicated with creatures and worlds I've never heard of before. But if you're a FR fantasy fanor just a fantasy fan, in generalthen you'll probably enjoy these 14 stories:
Realms of Shadow (Forgotten Realms: Return of the Archwizard anthology)
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast | ISBN: 078692716X | 350 pages | 2002 | TXT, DoC
I'll start off by saying that many people will buy this anthology merely for the R.A. Salvatore short story. The thing is, that's perfectly alright. When I first picked up this book, I looked at the table of contents and found the Salvatore story, 'That Curious Sword.' I promptly turned to the indicated page and read an incredible short tale involving two amazing characters: the cunning assassin Artemis Entreri and the pragmatic dark elf Jarlaxle. I, along with other FR fans have been looking forward to this piece of writing from the pen of RAS. This marks the first return to his popular duo since the book Servant of the Shard. Long story short, this nineteen page short story is worth the price of the book alone.
Realms of the Dragons - The Year of the Rogue Dragons
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast | ISBN: 0786931876 | 350 pages | 2004 | TIFF, DoC
I was a bit disappointed in the end, mainly due to the writing style. Each action taken by a character seems to be prefaced by what almost happened, or what would have happened had the circumstances been slightly different. Being familiar with D20 rules I can understand that Byers is trying to explain the various spells/feats/skills in whole as he moves the story forward. However, I'd expect this sort of detail to work better in a gaming manual than a novel. (You can almost see Byers writing this book, throwing dice to decide the outcome of each scene.) I found the writing style confusing at times, and often had to reread a paragraph or two to figure out what had just happened. In the end, the writing broke my suspension of disbelief.
Realms of the Elves: The Last Mythal Anthology (Forgotten Realms)
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast | ISBN: 078693980X | 350 pages | 2006 | TIFF, DoC, TXT
Realms of the Elves is the latest anthology released by Wizards of the Coast and is set in the Forgotten Realms. Like most of the other anthologies WotC releases there is a central theme to this one, and that is Elves. This anthology is supposed to drum up more interest for the final installment of Richard Baker's Last Mythal trilogy. Instead of giving a full review for each short story, which would take entirely too long, I will try to say a few words about each story. I will do so in the order they are in the book.
Realms of UnderDark (enrus)
Publisher: Wizards of the Coast | ISBN: 0786904879 | 350 pages | 1996 | RTF, DoC
The Underdark a lightless world of fearsome monsters and evils too horrible to exist anywhere else. This is the world of the drow, one of the most evil and malicious races to taint the Material Plane; the svirfneblin, little deep gnomes who avoid the drow at all costs; and other denizens, most too unspeakably vile to name. But all these creatures are but pawns in the hands of greater powers: authors. Authors like Ed Greenwood, Elaine Cunningham, and Mark Anthony, among others. This book gives you a sample of what the Underdark has to offer and also whets your appetite for longer works the authors have written. Its only drawbacks are that the plots get kind of oppressive after awhile (the Underdark'll do that to you) and the fact that Mark Anthony didn't do justice to RA Salvatore's characters. Other than that, the book is definitely worth reading.
